Situated at
the northernmost tip of Warwickshire, surrounded by rural
Leicestershire, Staffordshire and South Derbyshire,
Austrey is only two miles from the National Forest. More good news followed in October when ownership of the 150-year-old school building, now used as a Village Hall, was transferred to the village. Much needed improvements to the Village Hall can now get underway. Austrey is a predominantly rural community with a picturesque 12th century church, and a well-known thatched pub, the “Bird in Hand”.
Another local
landmark is BT's microwave relay station known locally as the “Rocket”,
which sits on the hill between Austrey and Appleby.
