Bonfire 2009

Our bonfire was another roaring success with more people through the gates than ever before.  We were trying to raise £3000 for a new mower and this we managed to achieve.

The ACG would like to thank the many people who helped out both before and during the event, without their efforts the event would not have been as successful as it was.  Special thanks also goes to the children of the school and Mr A Wilde who made the guys.

We are already planning next years event, so if anyone would like to get involved please let us know, remember you have to be over 16 to help with the fireworks.

We will hopefully be holding an Easter Egg Hunt again in 2010.  If your organisation would like to get involved please let us know.

The ACG owns a number of items that we rent out, this includes a large garden Marquee (12 x 4 m), a bouncy castle, barbeques, gazebos, tables and chairs.  If you would like further details on prices and availability please contact us via email: theacg@tiscali.co.uk

ABOUT ACG

Austrey Community Group (ACG) was set  up in 2005 by a group of villagers who wanted to bring life back to Austrey. We, Like many others, missed the social events that used to bring the village community together.

Our aims are to arrange a series of events throughout the year.

These include the Easter Egg Hunt, held on Easter Sunday, the Village Gala, a Hallowe'en Party for the children, and a Bonfire Night Party.

In order to hold our planned events it became clear that the playing field was required to be in a fit and usable state and, due to the resignation of the old Austrey Playing Field Association (APFA), we had to act fast.

After gaining full support from the Parish Council, work proceeded to get the field and pavilion back up to a useable standard.

We have a dedicated team of volunteers who are giving their time and expertise to help us reach our goals. Whether part of the working party on a Sunday morning or helping with the administration, all help is gratefully appreciated.
