The society was originally founded in the village pub, the Bird in Hand, where our impressive trophy cabinet is a feature in the lounge. Originally set up as a friendly gathering of like-minded golfers, the society quickly became well established with membership drawn from the village and surrounding areas.
We have about 30 members on the books and typically get a turnout of around 18-20 at each event. Many society members are also members of local clubs, but not all, and we welcome newcomers and guests of any standard, the emphasis being on good company and comradeship rather than high quality golf!
We tend to visit courses that are within an hour and a half's drive from the village, travelling far and wide looking for new and interesting venues, as well as revisiting some established favourites.
