Please add comments to the article itself rather than this blog entry.

If you don't register an opinion, we can't represent you!

Windfarm Planning Update

Please see correspondence below from the Stop Subsidised Windfarms Around Tamworth (SSWAT) Action Group:

As you are aware we have been closely monitoring the Planning Authorities of North Warwickshire Borough Council (NWBC) and Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC), in order to be alerted to any planning application for development of a Wind Farm around Austrey House Farm, Orton Lane.

Our vigilance has found that a Planning Application to erect a Meteorological Mast has just been lodged with NWBC.  (http://planning.northwarks.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=100951).

Think tank launches scathing report on wind power

With reference to the pre-planning application for a wind farm near Austrey, readers may be interested in the following report released by Civitas:

Before giving up on wind entirely though, it is worth reading the many contradicting comments and reports, such as that on the Scottish Renewables web site:

Warwickshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres opening hours

New Year, New Opening Hours

Warwickshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres' opening hours are changing in the new year.

With  major reductions in the County Council’s budget the Council made a strong commitment not to close any of its Household Waste Recycling Centres, and keep them open 7 days per week (apart from Stockton which currently only opens 3 days a week), but to help support this decision it is necessary to reduce the hours of opening Monday to Friday to six hours per day. Following public consultation earlier in the year the new arrangements will be put in place on 9th January 2012 at all sites except Judkins in Nuneaton which is run by a contractor and will change on 1st April 2012.
