The Glebe Field - Have your say

The Parish Council need your views in order to represent the Austrey community. Please read the article on the Glebe Field and let us know what you would like to happen.

Please add comments to the article itself rather than this blog entry.

If you don't register an opinion, we can't represent you!

Welcome to Austrey!

This web site is maintained and run by the Austrey Parish Council for the benefit of Austrey residents. We want it to be a useful resource: full of local information and a platform for village opinions and debate. Please register on the site and post your views and opinions on local issues.

Austrey is a small and attractive village situated in the northernmost point of Warwickshire, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It consists of approximately 400 houses, two churches, a thatched pub, playing field and a shop/post office. The social life in the village is excellent with many different thriving organisations. The natives are very friendly and overall it is considered to be a very lovely place to live. Windfarm Planning Update

Please see correspondence below from the Stop Subsidised Windfarms Around Tamworth (SSWAT) Action Group:

As you are aware we have been closely monitoring the Planning Authorities of North Warwickshire Borough Council (NWBC) and Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC), in order to be alerted to any planning application for development of a Wind Farm around Austrey House Farm, Orton Lane.

Our vigilance has found that a Planning Application to erect a Meteorological Mast has just been lodged with NWBC.  (http://planning.northwarks.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=100951).

Austrey and Warton Scout Group

Just to remind people that Austrey and Warton Scout Group meets on Monday evenings at Austrey CE Primary School.

We have 15 Beavers regularly attending - with 3 more joining us in the next few weeks.  They meet at 5:45 till 7pm.

The Cub Pack is also starting to grow - we currently have 5 regulars, with some of the Beavers moving up to Cubs in a couple of months.  They meet after the Beavers, from 7 till 8:15.

We are starting to plan fundays, camps, hikes and trips out for all the sections - in addition to the weekly activities.

Transport Survey

Do you have a transport problem? Would you like to take part in the Transport Survey from Beeline Community Transport?    The village shop has a supply of questionnaires behind the counter, as their display space is limited.  They can also be downloaded from this website or if you prefer the personal touch, give Katy Harper a ring on 01827 712278.

No Kangaroo's Found in Austrey!

During a recent Night Hike, Cubs and Beavers from the recently formed Austrey and Warton Scout Group failed to find any Kangaroo's roaming the fields around the village, despite their proximity to the zoo!

15 young people took part in the expedition around Austrey, No Man's Heath and Newton Regis during the hours of darkness on the evening of Saturday 21st Jan 2012 in search of exotic animals and pixies!!  This was the first activity of the newly opened Austrey and Warton Scout Group.
